CHICAGO - Head Coach Gonzalo Segares has unveiled the 21-player roster for the U.S. Under-17 Men's Youth National Team (MYNT) that will compete at the upcoming 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Indonesia. The tournament, scheduled from November 10 to December 2, will see the U.S. team face tough opponents in Group Stage, including Korea Republic, Burkina Faso, and France.

This year marks a record-breaking 18th appearance for the United States at the U-17 World Cup, tying them with Brazil for the most appearances in the history of the tournament. Notable players such as 38 former U.S. U-17 World Cup representatives have gone on to earn caps for the senior U.S. Men's National Team (USMNT). Additionally, many players from previous U-17 World Cups have contributed to the current USMNT player pool.

Coach Segares expressed his excitement about the talented and versatile squad that has been assembled for the tournament. He stated, "After a two-year journey, we've put together a deep, versatile squad and we're excited for them to take on the world's best in Indonesia. I'm proud of how far this team has come throughout the cycle, and I can't wait to get started."

The U.S. U-17 team will kick off their Group E campaign against Korea Republic on November 12, followed by matches against Burkina Faso on November 15 and France on November 18. All three matches will be held at the Jakarta International Stadium in Jakarta and broadcasted on FOX Sports and Telemundo platforms.

The roster comprises three goalkeepers, six defenders, seven midfielders, and five forwards. Players from various clubs and academies have made the cut, including representatives from Major League Soccer (MLS) teams such as Colorado Rapids, Inter Miami CF, and San Jose Earthquakes. Moreover, four players from the U.S. squad are currently based abroad in Germany, England, and Spain.

The U.S. U-17 team recently secured their World Cup spot by finishing as runners-up in the 2023 Concacaf U-17 Championship. Thirteen players from that squad have been selected for the upcoming tournament, highlighting their significant contributions during the qualifying campaign.

In preparation for the World Cup, the U.S. U-17 team will train in Bali for two weeks before traveling to Jakarta, the host city for their group stage matches. The team will also be accompanied by three alternate players during their training camp in Indonesia.

The 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup will feature 24 countries divided into six groups. The top two finishers from each group, as well as the four best third-placed teams, will advance to the Round of 16. The tournament will then proceed with a knockout bracket until the final.

As the U.S. U-17 team embarks on their quest for glory in Indonesia, fans eagerly anticipate the emergence of future stars who may eventually don the senior U.S. Men's National Team jersey, following in the footsteps of previous U-17 tournament graduates who have achieved national and international success.
