Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus has announced that Tyson Bagent will continue as the team's starting quarterback for the Week 9 matchup against the New Orleans Saints. Eberflus revealed during an interview with ESPN Chicago's Waddle & Silvy show that Justin Fields is still week-to-week and will remain sidelined until he fully recovers from his thumb injury.

Bagent, who won his first start against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 7 but suffered a loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in his second start, will have the opportunity to showcase his skills once again. Despite throwing two interceptions in the previous game, Eberflus commended Bagent's performance and highlighted his ability to operate the no-huddle offense effectively in the second half.

Fields, on the other hand, has been working closely with the team's trainers to rehabilitate his thumb injury, which occurred during the game against the Minnesota Vikings on October 15. Eberflus mentioned that Fields' progress is being closely monitored, but they will wait until he is fully healthy before considering his return to play.

In his three appearances this season, Bagent has displayed potential, completing 70 percent of his passes for a total of 477 yards. However, he has also thrown three interceptions along with one touchdown. In addition to his passing abilities, Bagent has contributed to the team's offensive efforts by rushing for 27 yards and scoring two touchdowns.

Fields, who has started multiple games for the Bears this season, has completed 62 percent of his passes, accumulating 1,201 passing yards. He has recorded 11 touchdowns and six interceptions. Known for his dual-threat capabilities, Fields has also rushed for 237 yards and scored one rushing touchdown.

As the Bears prepare to face the Saints, they will rely on Bagent to lead the team's offense while Fields continues his recovery process. The coaching staff remains optimistic about Fields' return, but for now, Bagent will assume the role of the starting quarterback in hopes of securing a victory for the Bears.

The Bears' Week 9 matchup against the Saints will provide another opportunity for Bagent to showcase his abilities and prove his worth as a starting quarterback in the NFL.
