NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Titans have decided to waive defensive tackle Teair Tart following concerns about his effort and attitude, a team source has confirmed to ESPN. The decision was made after the Titans' close 28-27 victory over the Miami Dolphins on Monday, where it was determined that Tart's play was not up to par.

According to team sources, Tart's limited playing time in the game had frustrated him, as he had hoped to impress and secure a long-term contract in the forthcoming free agency period. The 30 snaps he played out of the team's 69 defensive snaps did not meet the team's expectations.

Throughout the season, Tart had participated in 332 snaps, accounting for 47% of the team's total defensive snaps. He managed to accumulate 21 tackles and one sack in the 11 games he played. However, it seems these contributions were overshadowed by the concerns surrounding his effort and attitude on the field.

Titans coach Mike Vrabel had previously addressed Tart's contract situation, acknowledging the importance of playing well for the benefit of both the team and his own family. Tart, who signed with the Titans as an undrafted free agent out of Florida International in 2020, had a second-round tender placed on him last offseason, valued at $4.3 million.

News broke of the Titans' decision to move on from Tart when NFL reporter Paul Kuharsky first reported the news. It remains to be seen what the future holds for the fourth-year veteran as he enters the next phase of his professional career.

As the Titans continue their journey towards the playoffs, they will have to make adjustments to their defensive line without Tart's presence. The team is expected to evaluate alternative options to strengthen the position as they strive to secure a successful season.

The Tennessee Titans' decision to release Teair Tart underscores the significance of effort, attitude, and performance both on and off the field. As the team moves forward, they will undoubtedly seek to cultivate a cohesive and motivated squad capable of achieving continued success in the NFL.
