Spanish motorcycle rider Carles Falcon, 45, has tragically passed away more than a week after suffering a severe crash during the Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia. Falcon had been in an induced coma since January 7th when he was airlifted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

During the second stage of the rally, Falcon experienced a fall that resulted in a cardiac arrest. However, a quick response from the first doctor on the scene successfully resuscitated him, although he lacked a pulse initially, as race director David Castera explained.

Despite extensive medical care, the TwinTrail Racing team announced on Instagram that Falcon succumbed to his injuries. The medical team confirmed that the neurological damage caused by the cardiac arrest at the time of the accident was irreversible.

The statement described Falcon as a vibrant and passionate individual who found great joy in everything he did, particularly in motorbikes. Racing in the Dakar Rally was his dream, and tragically, he lost his life pursuing that dream.

The Dakar Rally is widely regarded as one of the most grueling and demanding races, covering thousands of kilometers across challenging terrains. Although safety measures are put in place, the risks involved in this extreme sport are inherent.

Carles Falcon's passing is a somber reminder of the dangers faced by the brave competitors who participate in events like the Dakar Rally. The entire racing community mourns his loss and extends condolences to his family, friends, and team members during this difficult time.
