In the aftermath of the New Orleans Saints' late touchdown against the Atlanta Falcons, an intense debate has erupted, with ESPN's Shannon Sharpe expressing strong criticism towards Saints quarterback Jameis Winston. On Monday's episode of First Take, Sharpe called for Winston to be cut, citing the controversy as evidence of problems within the franchise and asserting that Winston does not possess the mentality of a winning quarterback.

The incident occurred when the Saints were leading 41-17 with just over a minute remaining in the game. Instead of taking a knee and running out the clock as requested by Falcons coach Arthur Smith, Winston and the Saints' offense decided to give running back Jamaal Williams a chance to score a touchdown. Allen later apologized for the score, but the controversy surrounding the decision has continued to generate heated discussions.

Sharpe, known for his outspoken commentary, did not hold back in his criticism of both Winston and Saints coach Dennis Allen. "It makes Dennis Allen look like he lost control of that locker room," Sharpe stated. "But I'll say this - I would cut Jameis Winston today. I would not want him on my team. That's a loser's mentality."

Sharpe further argued that the controversy reveals deeper issues within the Saints franchise and suggests a need for a new direction in the future. "Dennis Allen is probably going to have to go because the players have no respect for him," Sharpe said. "There's a mentality that you've got to have to play winning football. Jameis Winston has a loser's mentality. That's why they didn't win in Tampa. Look at what Baker Mayfield did with basically the same team, got them into the playoffs, something Jameis couldn't do."

The outspoken ESPN analyst emphasized his stance by stating, "I would cut Jameis Winston today."

While the controversy surrounding the late touchdown continues to generate strong opinions, it remains to be seen how the Saints organization will respond to Sharpe's comments and evaluate Winston's position heading into the future. As the debate unfolds, fans and analysts alike will be closely watching for any potential changes within the franchise.
