In their search for a new head coach, the Seattle Seahawks had shown interest in New York Giants offensive coordinator Kafka. However, according to Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports, the Giants have declined to give permission for the Seahawks to interview Kafka for their coordinator job.

The Seahawks had interviewed Kafka twice during their head coaching search, indicating their keen interest in bringing him on board. Nonetheless, the Giants have opted to retain Kafka and prevent any potential lateral move.

Kafka joined the Giants in 2022 when Brian Daboll was hired as their head coach. While the Giants' offense saw a decrease in productivity in his second season, Kafka's overall performance has garnered praise and admiration from various teams across the league.

Interestingly, the Giants have already made changes to their coaching staff, parting ways with defensive coordinator Wink Martindale and special teams coordinator Thomas McGaughey. However, with Kafka remaining in his position, it seems that there won't be a complete overhaul on Daboll's staff this offseason.

The Seahawks, therefore, will have to explore other options to fill the coordinator job on Mike Macdonald's staff. Macdonald was hired by the Seahawks earlier this week, adding further complexity to their pursuit of talented coaching personnel.

While the Giants' decision to retain Kafka may disappoint the Seahawks, it highlights the importance placed on maintaining coaching stability within the organization. As the offseason progresses, both teams will continue their respective endeavors to build successful and effective coaching staffs for the upcoming season.
