In a significant blow to the New Orleans Saints, star wide receiver Michael Thomas has been placed on injured reserve, the team announced on Tuesday. Thomas, who has been battling a knee injury, is expected to miss a minimum of four weeks as he recovers.

This news comes as a disappointment for Thomas, who has been plagued by injuries in recent years, appearing in only 10 games over the last three seasons. However, in the current 2023 season, Thomas has managed to make an impact, catching 39 passes for 448 yards and scoring a touchdown.

The Saints wasted no time in making roster adjustments to compensate for the loss of Thomas. They have signed cornerback Cameron Dantzler from the club's practice squad, bringing him onto the 53-man roster. Dantzler has already appeared in two games for the Saints this season, primarily contributing on special teams with nine snaps.

To further bolster their receiving corps, the Saints have also brought back Marquez Callaway to the practice squad. Callaway is no stranger to the team, having spent the offseason and training camp with former Saints head coach Sean Payton on the Broncos. Although Callaway was waived at the start of the regular season, he had a productive stint with the Saints from 2020 to 2022, accumulating 83 receptions for 1,069 yards and seven touchdowns in 42 games.

This roster shuffle highlights the Saints' determination to maintain their offensive capabilities despite the setback. With the loss of Thomas, the team will rely on depth and the talents of Dantzler and Callaway to step up and fill the void in their passing game.

The Saints will face a challenging road ahead without Thomas, but with the resilience they have shown in the past, they are determined to overcome this obstacle and continue their quest for success in the 2023 NFL season.
