Rookie quarterback Aidan O'Connell of the Las Vegas Raiders has shown promise in his first two starts, averaging 181 passing yards in wins over the New York Jets and New York Giants. His go-to target has been wide receiver Davante Adams, who has been drawing an average of 10 pass attempts per game from the fourth-round draft pick.

This Sunday, O'Connell will face his first road game as the Raiders take on the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium. The Dolphins' defense has been strong against the pass, allowing an average of only 190 passing yards over their last three games.

The Dolphins' defense, which averages 3.2 sacks per game, will be looking to disrupt O'Connell's rhythm and limit Adams' impact on the game. With cornerbacks Jalen Ramsey and Xavien Howard healthy and in the lineup, it remains to be seen who will line up across from Adams.

Throughout the season, Adams has predominantly lined up at the left boundary, accounting for roughly 55 percent of his plays. However, his presence in the slot has decreased significantly since leaving the Green Bay Packers. He has played only 15 percent of his snaps in the slot while in Las Vegas, compared to 30 percent in 2021.

It is worth noting that the Dolphins haven't typically shadowed top receivers this season, and Ramsey has primarily played on the right side. Adams has lined up on the right side on a few occasions, where he would likely see Howard as the primary defender.

Adams' role in the Raiders' offense has been instrumental in their recent success, as he lined up at the left wide receiver position for the majority of snaps during their two-game winning streak. It is unlikely that interim coach Antonio Pierce will make significant changes to the game plan, as the team has found their rhythm with O'Connell under center.

The Dolphins' defensive blueprint is clear - disrupt Adams and force O'Connell into mistakes. Their success in limiting star quarterback Patrick Mahomes to just 185 passing yards in a recent game gives them confidence going into the matchup against the Raiders.

Sunday's game at Hard Rock Stadium will serve as a test for both O'Connell and Adams as they face a formidable Dolphins defense. Can the rookie quarterback and his star receiver overcome the challenge, or will the Dolphins' defense continue their strong play against the pass? The answers will be revealed on game day.
