The match began with Penn State's No. 14 ranked wrestler, who goes by the name Davis, going head-to-head with Spartan junior Tristan Lujan in the 125-pound weight class. Davis wasted no time in taking control of the match, securing a takedown within the first five seconds. He continued to apply pressure on Lujan, with both wrestlers engaging in intense scrambles. Despite Lujan's efforts, Davis emerged victorious with a convincing 7-3 win.
Next up was No. 4 ranked wrestler Nagao from Penn State, squaring off against Andy Hampton from Michigan State in the 133-pound weight class. Nagao wasted no time in asserting his dominance, quickly taking Hampton down to the mat and building a comfortable lead. With swift takedowns and an impressive display of technique, Nagao secured an 18-3 technical fall victory in just 3 minutes and 21 seconds.
Moving up to the 141-pound weight class, No. 2 ranked Bartlett of Penn State faced off against No. 33 ranked Jordan Hamdan of Michigan State. Both wrestlers displayed tenacity and skill, engaging in intense exchanges on the mat. Bartlett's relentless pressure forced Hamdan on the defensive, resulting in a hard-fought 8-2 win for Bartlett.
