The Green Bay Packers are facing a significant injury challenge as they prepare to take on the Minnesota Vikings in a crucial Sunday night matchup. With the Week 17 Injury Report released, the Packers have listed four players as questionable and five players as doubtful for the game.
In the doubtful category, the Packers will likely be without receiver Christian Watson, linebacker De'Vondre Campbell, tight end Luke Musgrave, running back Emanuel Wilson, and tackle Luke Tenuta. Musgrave, Wilson, and Tenuta would need to be activated from the injured reserve list in order to play. However, Wilson and Tenuta have shown promising signs this week, participating fully in practice. Musgrave, on the other hand, has been limited.
Among the questionable players, wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks is the only one who did not practice this week due to a chest injury sustained in the last game against the Panthers. Head Coach Matt LaFleur expressed uncertainty regarding Wicks' availability and mentioned that a decision would be made after a pregame assessment.
On a positive note, receiver Jayden Reed, who missed the previous game due to a chest/toe injury, is expected to play. The rookie second-round pick returned to limited practice this week and needs just one catch to tie the impressive record set by Sterling Sharpe as the Packers' rookie with the most receptions.
The Packers have also provided a list of players who are expected to be available for the game. Linebacker Kingsley Enagbare, guard Elgton Jenkins, running backs Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon, safety Jonathan Owens, and linebacker Quay Walker have not received a game status designation and are set to contribute to the team's efforts.
As for the Vikings, they have ruled out cornerback Byron Murphy, receiver Jalen Nailor, defensive tackle Jaquelin Roy, and safety Theo Jackson due to various injuries. On the questionable list, receiver Jordan Addison, cornerback Mekhi Blackmon, and linebacker Troy Dye are being evaluated ahead of the game.
Packers' Head Coach Matt LaFleur spoke highly of Jordan Addison, praising his impressive performances throughout the season and noting that he poses a significant challenge for opposing defenses.
In terms of availability, the Vikings have a substantial number of players expected to be ready for the game. Defensive tackle Sheldon Day, running back Alexander Mattison, defensive tackle Harrison Phillips, tackle Brian O'Neill, and linebacker Ivan Pace Jr. have not been assigned a game status.
As both teams face injury concerns, Sunday night's clash promises to be a highly competitive and crucial game as the regular season concludes. The Packers will need to overcome their injury challenges to secure victory against the Vikings and maintain their position in the playoff race.
