New York Islanders Acquire Forward Tyce Thompson from New Jersey Devils in Exchange for Arnaud Durandeau

Thompson, 24, joins the Islanders after playing in 11 NHL games with the Devils over the past three seasons. Hailing from Milford, CT, Thompson has shown great potential, scoring 50 points (15 goals and 35 assists) in 98 games for New Jersey's American Hockey League affiliate from 2020 to 2023. Furthermore, he has postseason experience, participating in 11 Calder Cup playoff games and contributing four points (one goal and three assists).
Prior to his professional career, Thompson honed his skills at Providence College in Rhode Island from 2018 to 2021. During his college hockey days, he showcased his offensive prowess, amassing an impressive 94 points in 101 games, consisting of 38 goals and 56 assists. Thompson's junior year was particularly notable, as he captained the team and led in all offensive categories with 25 points (11 goals and 14 assists). In the preceding season, he ranked second in scoring in Hockey East and third in the NCAA with 44 points (19 goals and 25 assists) in 34 games.
Before his college years, Thompson spent two seasons with the Dubuque Fighting Saints in the USHL, recording 32 points (12 goals and 20 assists) in 63 games. His talent and consistent performance caught the attention of the scouts, leading to his selection in the fourth round (96th overall) of the 2019 NHL Draft.
With his roots tracing back to Oyster Bay, NY, Thompson began his hockey journey in the Jr. Islanders youth hockey program. Now, he returns to his home state as a member of the New York Islanders, providing added depth and skill to the team's forward lines.
