In another disappointing outing, the New England Patriots suffered a 6-0 defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. The struggling Patriots' offense once again failed to find the end zone, while their defense put up a commendable fight, despite the slippery conditions.

The Patriots' defense showcased their resilience by holding the Chargers to just 241 total yards and limiting them to two field goals. However, the offense managed to gain 257 yards but couldn't make a dent in the Chargers' red zone, resulting in a scoreless game for New England.

This loss marked a dubious milestone for the Patriots, as it was their third consecutive game where they gave up 10 or fewer points and lost. This feat hasn't occurred since the 1938 Chicago Cardinals, making the Patriots the first team to achieve such a record in nearly a century. Their previous losses included a 10-6 defeat against the Indianapolis Colts on November 12 and a 10-7 loss to the New York Giants last week.

Speaking about the team's struggles, Patriots tight end Hunter Henry acknowledged the defense's efforts in keeping them competitive but emphasized the need for the offense to step up and score points. "We're close and in close games. The defense is hanging us in there," said Henry. "We've got to find a way to score some points. We haven't held up our share of the bargain, obviously."

In recent games, the Patriots have consistently fallen short, with their last four losses all being determined by at least one score. Most of their losses this season have followed this pattern, leaving the team unable to secure victories when it matters most.

The Patriots opted to start Bailey Zappe at quarterback, hoping for a change in their offensive fortunes. However, it was more of the same for the struggling unit. Zappe completed 13-of-25 passes for 141 yards, but he faced constant pressure from the Chargers' defense, succumbing to five sacks throughout the game.

Reflecting on his performance, Zappe took responsibility for the lackluster offensive display, acknowledging that the offense starts with him. "The defense played great. The offense starts with me," Zappe admitted. "I've got to get things going."

With their playoff hopes continuing to diminish, the New England Patriots face an uphill battle to turn their season around. The team's struggles on offense have proven to be a significant setback, underscoring the need for improvements in order to remain competitive in their upcoming games.
