Michigan offensive lineman Zak Zinter endured a setback during the Wolverines' 30-24 victory over No. 2 Ohio State, as he was carted off the field with an apparent left leg injury late in the third quarter. The injury occurred when Zinter's leg was rolled on during a pass blocking set. Medical personnel quickly attended to him, and he was transported to the hospital for further treatment.

After the game, interim coach Sherrone Moore provided an update on Zinter's condition, stating that he received some "good news" after speaking with Zinter's mother. Moore expressed optimism that Zinter would return "down the road," which is encouraging news for Michigan, a team aiming to make its third consecutive appearance in the College Football Playoff.

Zinter, a senior right guard, has been a vital presence on Michigan's offensive line. Throughout his career, he has started over 40 games in the right guard position for the Wolverines. In the 2023 season alone, Zinter has played over 600 snaps, solidifying his status as the team's top lineman. His impressive performance led to him being named a preseason and midseason All-American by the Associated Press and a contender for postseason All-America honors. Zinter has also been part of Michigan's Joe Moore Award units in back-to-back seasons.

With Zinter sidelined, Michigan made adjustments to its offensive line. Tackle Karson Barnhart shifted to right guard, while senior tackle Trent Jones took his place at right tackle. Despite Zinter's absence, the Wolverines rallied, and on the play following his injury, running back Blake Corum sprinted for a 22-yard touchdown, giving Michigan the lead in the second half.

The victory over Ohio State marks Michigan's third consecutive win against their fierce rivals, a feat that has not been accomplished in over 25 years. This win significantly boosts Michigan's chances of returning to the College Football Playoff and further solidifies their successful season thus far.

As Zak Zinter begins his recovery and aims for a comeback, the Wolverines will look to continue their winning streak and make a strong finish to their season. The impact of Zinter's absence will be closely monitored, but Michigan is confident in their ability to adapt and maintain their winning form.
