In the latest twist in the highly anticipated fight between Michael Chandler and Conor McGregor, Chandler took to social media to express his frustration over the lack of confirmation for their rumored showdown on the historic UFC 300 card in April. Despite both fighters serving as coaches on The Ultimate Fighter earlier this year, the official date for their bout has yet to be announced.
The delay in finalizing the fight can be attributed to McGregor's re-entry into the UFC's anti-doping program, which makes him eligible to compete again in April. However, Chandler has grown impatient with the lack of official word on their match and has taken to Twitter to voice his concerns.
Referring to a meeting rumored to have taken place in Abu Dhabi or Dubai, Chandler tweeted, "Hopefully Dana can convince Conor McGregor to be a man of his word. But we all make claims we can't back up at times...it's human nature... I don't fault him for it." The former Bellator champion also referenced McGregor's statement about "the greatest comeback in combat sports history" and ridiculed the documentary that was released detailing McGregor's recovery from a broken leg suffered in his last bout against Dustin Poirier.
In response, McGregor fired back in a now-deleted tweet, mocking Chandler's drawing power without him. "Chandler-Moicano - now there is a [UFC] 300 main event!" McGregor taunted.
However, Renato Moicano, the name mentioned by McGregor, seemed uninterested in being part of their verbal exchange. Moicano simply replied, "Nah, I'm good. Too easy," as he focused on his upcoming fight against Drew Dober in February.
While the banter between the fighters continues, it is worth noting that there has been no official confirmation or contract signed for the Chandler-McGregor showdown on the UFC 300 card. UFC CEO Dana White has expressed plans to meet with McGregor to discuss details about his return, but no formal announcements have been made regarding the fight or Chandler's involvement.
Fans of both fighters will have to wait and see if their highly anticipated clash will come to fruition. Until then, the speculation surrounding McGregor's next fight remains unresolved, leaving the outcome of the potential bout between Chandler and McGregor hanging in the balance.
The clock is ticking, and the wait for fans eagerly anticipating UFC 300 continues.
