The prestigious final of the 2026 World Cup will be held at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium, which has a seating capacity of 82,500. This announcement comes as part of the tournament's unique format, with matches taking place across North America, in a collaboration between the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

MetLife Stadium, located just five miles away from New York City, is renowned as the home stadium for the NFL's New York Jets and Giants. It has already played host to significant sporting events such as the 2014 Super Bowl and the final of the Copa America Centenario in 2016.

The 2026 World Cup will be the first edition of the tournament to feature an expanded 48-team format. The final match is scheduled for July 19, following a 39-day tournament comprising a record-breaking 104 matches, the highest number in World Cup history.

The tournament will kick off on June 11 at Mexico City's Estadio Azteca, known for hosting the tournament opener in 1970 and 1986. Furthermore, Toronto's BMO Field will witness the first-ever men's World Cup match in Canada on June 12, serving as the host venue for the Canadian team's opener. Vancouver's BC Place stadium, capable of accommodating 54,500 fans, will be the venue for Canada's second and third group matches.

The United States will commence their World Cup campaign on June 12 at the impressive SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. This venue holds additional significance as it will also host the opening ceremony for the LA Olympics in 2028 and was the venue for the Super Bowl two years ago. The US team will conclude their group stage matches at the SoFi Stadium as well as at Seattle's Lumen Field.

The tournament's matches will be spread across various cities in North America, showcasing the rich soccer culture in each location. Dallas, for instance, has emerged as a major host city, staging a total of nine matches, more than any other city.

Other standout venues include Miami's Hard Rock Stadium, where the third-place playoff will be held. The semi-finals are scheduled to take place in Dallas and Atlanta, with the quarter-finals being held in Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, and Boston. Additionally, the round of 16 matches will be hosted in Vancouver, Seattle, Mexico City, Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Philadelphia, and New York/New Jersey.

Each host city will have the opportunity to host at least one round of 32 match, with the exception of Guadalajara and Philadelphia.

The anticipation for the 2026 World Cup is already high, with fans across North America eagerly awaiting this momentous international sporting event. The chosen venues promise to deliver unforgettable matches, vibrant atmospheres, and exceptional hospitality for players, officials, and spectators alike.
