Luton Town's captain, Tom Lockyer, is currently undergoing tests and scans following his collapse on the field during a Premier League match against Bournemouth. This is the second time in Lockyer's career that he has experienced such an incident.

The match, held at the Vitality Stadium, was halted on Saturday when Lockyer collapsed in the 58th minute. The game was subsequently abandoned, with the score tied at 1-1, due to the medical emergency involving the Luton defender and captain. Lockyer was immediately attended to by medical teams and stretchered off the field, receiving applause from supportive fans.

The club later confirmed that Lockyer's collapse was a result of a cardiac arrest. Fortunately, he was responsive by the time he was taken off the field. Following initial treatment at the stadium, the defender was transferred to a hospital for further examinations and treatment.

As of now, it is too early to provide significant updates on Lockyer's condition. Luton Town has asked for patience while the player awaits the results of medical tests and scans.

A statement released by the club on social media said, "Tom is still undergoing tests and scans, and is awaiting the results before the next steps for his recovery are determined. We are unable to provide a running commentary on his situation, and request that all media please wait for any updates to be released via the club's official channels when the time is right."

This is not the first time that Lockyer has collapsed on the field. In a previous incident, during Luton Town's promotion to the Premier League, Lockyer was forced off the pitch after a collapse, leading to heart surgery for an atrial fibrillation. After being cleared to return to play following thorough examinations, Lockyer had expressed confidence in his health.

Lockyer himself described the previous incident, saying, "I remember running backwards and then I went really light-headed and my legs went really weak straight away, as I was running back. I remember stumbling back and then all I remember was [physiotherapist] Chris Phillips over the top of me, and he was saying 'Locks, you're coming off'. I couldn't stop crying on the floor."

Lockyer's current situation has garnered significant concern from supporters and has attracted widespread media attention. The entire Premier League has shown solidarity for the Welshman and is hoping for a swift recovery.

Further updates on Lockyer's condition will be provided via official channels as soon as available.
