The conclusion of the NFL regular season has sparked a flurry of job opportunities, and it seems that the Kansas City Chiefs are in high demand. Reports have emerged stating that the Chiefs have received two interview requests for open personnel positions.
One of these requests comes from the Carolina Panthers, who are seeking to fill their vacant general manager position. The Panthers have reached out to Brandt Tilis, the Vice President of Football Operations for the Chiefs. Interestingly, this is not the first time that the Panthers have expressed interest in Tilis. He previously interviewed for the same position in 2021. Tilis, who started his Chiefs career as a salary cap and contract analyst in 2010, was credited with recognizing the magnitude of Patrick Mahomes' contract and played a crucial role in the team's long-term planning.
The Washington Commanders are the second team to express interest in a Chiefs personnel member. They have requested an interview with Mike Borgonzi, the Assistant General Manager of the Chiefs, for their Head of Football Operations job. Borgonzi has been a frontrunner in the general manager candidate pool for some time now. His meeting with Commanders owner Josh Harris and consultants Bob Myers and Rick Spielman is scheduled to take place in Miami.
The potential departure of Borgonzi from the Chiefs could open the door for Mike Bradway to assume the role of the team's next Assistant General Manager. However, the final decision will ultimately depend on the outcome of the interview process.
This offseason, job opportunities are plentiful in the NFL, and the Kansas City Chiefs find themselves at the center of attention. The requests for interviews with Tilis and Borgonzi highlight the respect and recognition that the Chiefs organization has garnered for their impressive personnel management. As the offseason unfolds, it will be interesting to see how these interviews play out and if any Chiefs personnel members will embark on new chapters in their careers.
