The New York Jets faced another disappointing loss against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, leaving head coach Robert Saleh with tough decisions regarding the team's quarterback situation for the upcoming game against the Houston Texans.
In an attempt to ignite the struggling Jets offense, Saleh made a quarterback change during the game, replacing Tim Boyle with Trevor Siemian when the team was trailing 13-8 early in the fourth quarter. However, Siemian's efforts fell short as he failed to lead the team to any points, resulting in a narrow 13-8 victory for the Falcons.
Siemian completed just 5 of his 13 pass attempts for a meager 66 yards, while Boyle managed to connect on 14 of his 25 passes for 148 yards. Unfortunately, Boyle's performance ended with an interception on his final pass of the day.
When asked about his plans for the next game, Saleh expressed uncertainty, stating, "Just trying to spark the offense. I'm not there yet with regards to next week." However, Saleh did acknowledge that Zach Wilson, who has been sidelined due to injury, could potentially be considered as an option for the starting quarterback position.
"He's always in consideration," Saleh clarified, leaving open the possibility of Wilson returning to the lineup.
The Jets' ongoing struggle to secure a win during their five-game losing streak has exposed the limitations of their current quarterback options. While the team had expressed interest in acquiring star quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the Green Bay Packers player has returned to practice, making it unlikely that he will be part of the Jets' plans moving forward.
With playoff hopes dwindling, it remains unclear who will lead the Jets' offense in their Week 12 matchup against the Texans. Saleh's indecisiveness suggests that the team is exploring all available options to find the spark it desperately needs to turn the season around.
