In a surprise announcement during a joint appearance on Fox, Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys, revealed that he will finally be placing former head coach, Jimmy Johnson, into the team's prestigious Ring of Honor. The long-awaited honor had been a topic of discussion earlier this year, when Jones expressed reluctance to bestow it upon Johnson.

During a televised interview in July, Jones had stated, "We're going to be making those announcements as we go. We'll just let that go. I've got a couple of coaches, in addition to Jimmy, that ought to be in that Ring of Honor." However, it seems as though Jones has had a change of heart.

The announcement came as a surprise to both fans and Johnson himself. The two football legends were appearing on Fox from the Cowboys' game in Carolina when Jones made the live announcement. Emotions ran high as Johnson received the news, visibly moved by the gesture.

Johnson, known for his successful tenure as the Cowboys' head coach from 1989 to 1993, led the team to two consecutive Super Bowl victories in 1992 and 1993. Notably, the Cowboys even managed to secure a Super Bowl win without Johnson at the helm. Despite these accomplishments, Johnson had been left out of the Ring of Honor until now.

The Ring of Honor, established in 1975, is a significant recognition of former coaches, players, and key contributors to the Dallas Cowboys organization. It serves as a testament to their impact on the team's storied history. Inductees into the Ring of Honor are immortalized with their names and achievements displayed prominently at AT&T Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys.

With Jones finally deciding to bestow this honor upon his former coach, Johnson's induction ceremony is set to take place on December 30. It is expected that this much-anticipated event will draw a large crowd of fans, past and present players, and football enthusiasts as they gather to witness Johnson's official inclusion into the elite group of Cowboys legends.

As the date draws near, debates are sure to arise about the other individuals who Jones had mentioned as potentially deserving of this distinction. Will the inclusion of Johnson pave the way for other prominent figures associated with the Cowboys to receive a place in the Ring of Honor? Only time will tell.

For now, fans eagerly anticipate the meaningful ceremony that will acknowledge Jimmy Johnson's immense contributions to the Dallas Cowboys. It is a fitting recognition for the man who led America's Team to glory and left an indelible mark on the franchise's history.
