In a recent episode of the "New Heights" podcast, Philadelphia Eagles player Jason Kelce revealed that his wife Kylie Kelce remained steadfast in her support for the Eagles during Super Bowl 2024, even though her brother-in-law Travis Kelce plays for the victorious Kansas City Chiefs. Despite having personal connections to the Chiefs, Kylie refused to don their team gear, earning praise from Philadelphia fans.
Jason shared on the podcast that his wife was adamant about not wearing Chiefs gear, stating, "She just does not want to do it." However, Travis, the Chiefs tight end, appeared unfazed by Kylie's decision and humorously remarked that she seemed more inclined to wear attire representing her college, the University of Cincinnati.
Kylie, a Philadelphia native, showcased her support for both her husband and brother-in-law by wearing a red crewneck from the Cincinnati Bearcats, the college team both Kelce brothers played for, over a "New Heights" tee at the Super Bowl. Travis commended her choice and stated, "I respect it, Ky. I appreciate you even wearing red." Despite attempting to persuade her to sport Chiefs gear, Travis acknowledged Kylie's commitment to the Eagles.
Jason recounted his conversation with his wife, urging her to cheer for the Chiefs since they were not playing against the Eagles. However, Travis playfully sided with Kylie in her decision, adding, "I'm with [Kylie], against you." This light-hearted banter showcased the close relationship between the Kelce brothers and their shared support for their respective teams.
Kylie herself spoke out about her refusal to wear Chiefs gear, stating, "I mean, I just can't do it. I will cheer on Travis every single day of the week, forever, but I won't wear Chiefs stuff." She also expressed that if Jason were ever traded to another team, she would wear his jersey but not display any other team's gear without his name on it.
In an interesting twist, one Philadelphia Eagles fan who temporarily switched teams for the Super Bowl was Taylor Swift's father, Scott Swift. He showed his support for Travis, his daughter's boyfriend, by donning complete Chiefs gear despite being an Eagles fan himself.
During the podcast, Jason also revealed the hidden purpose behind his colorful Chiefs-themed overalls at the Super Bowl. He explained, "I was trying to figure out what to wear, and I figured if I went with the overalls, and I had straps, they could hold my shirt down. The straps would hold my shirt on so I wouldn't take my shirt off when I felt the desire to. I'd be more composed."
With the Super Bowl excitement still lingering, the Kelce brothers' playful banter and Kylie's unwavering loyalty to the Eagles have become topics of discussion among football fans. Regardless of team allegiances, it's evident that family bonds and support remain strong within the Kelce household.
