In an exciting announcement on Thursday, Jake Paul revealed his plans to step into a co-main event on March 2 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The event will shine a spotlight on the remarkable Amanda Serrano, who will headline the card against German featherweight Nina Meinke. The highly-anticipated event will be broadcast live on DAZN in the United States.
Jake Paul, known for his stellar performances in the ring, expressed his enthusiasm about being part of such a significant event. "Fighting for the first time at home in Puerto Rico alongside one of the greatest fighters ever, Amanda Serrano, promises to be the event of a lifetime," Paul stated in a press release. "I'm honored to be the co-main event on Amanda's homecoming card, and I could not be more excited to bring this historic event to Puerto Rico as I continue my path to becoming a world champion."
This will mark Paul's return to the ring just three months after his dominating victory over Andre August, which extended his professional record to 8-1, including five knockout wins. Despite typically headlining his previous cards, Paul willingly takes a co-main event role to provide Serrano the opportunity to shine in her home country—a place she hasn't competed in since 2021.
Amanda Serrano, with an impressive record of 46-2-1, has been making waves in the boxing world. Recently, she made headlines by announcing her decision to only work with sanctioning bodies that allow her to compete in three-minute rounds, similarly to male boxers. This move led to her relinquishing her WBC title when they refused to implement the change.
While Serrano already has her opponent set in the form of Nina Meinke, Jake Paul has yet to announce his opponent for the co-main event. However, fans can expect an exciting and challenging matchup as Paul has shifted his focus to facing boxers with more traditional boxing backgrounds, moving away from his earlier fights against MMA stars like Nate Diaz and Anderson Silva.
Adding to the excitement of the evening, the historic card will also feature the debut of 17-year-old Javon "Wanna" Walton, who recently signed with Paul's promotion company, Most Valuable Promotions. Although Walton is best known for his role as Ashtray in the popular HBO series Euphoria, he has been training as a boxing prodigy since his childhood.
The March 2 card is poised to captivate boxing fans worldwide, with Jake Paul and Amanda Serrano headlining an event that focuses on the rich boxing history of Puerto Rico. As the date approaches, the boxing world eagerly awaits the announcement of Paul's opponent and looks forward to witnessing the promising debut of Javon Walton on this momentous night of sports entertainment.
