In a season filled with fierce rivalries and intense matchups, the Georgia Bulldogs stand tall as the team to beat. With just two weeks left before the College Football Playoff selection Sunday, it's clear that Georgia is the major contender against the field.

As the two-time defending national champions, the Bulldogs have held the top spot throughout the entire season. However, their journey to reaching "Death Star mode" has been a calculated and methodical one. Now, it seems that Georgia is firing on all cylinders.

Last week, in a seemingly effortless victory against Mississippi, the Bulldogs displayed their dominance in a top-10 matchup. And just this past Saturday, they took on the challenge of facing off against No. 21 Tennessee on the road, crushing the competition and securing their 28th consecutive win.

Georgia coach Kirby Smart emphasized their focus on self-improvement, stating, "All we're trying to do is find the best version of ourselves." This determination has propelled the Bulldogs to become the first team in the SEC to achieve three consecutive 8-0 regular seasons in league play. Their remarkable record has not gone unnoticed, with Tennessee coach Josh Heupel acknowledging, "What (Georgia has) done in the past couple years is special."

Although doubts may have arisen during the early stages of the season, Georgia has consistently proven their worth. Despite a weak nonconference schedule and some less-than-dominant performances against SEC opponents, such as South Carolina and Auburn, the Bulldogs have remained resilient.

Adapting to the challenge of a new quarterback in Carson Beck and various key offensive players dealing with injuries, including receiver Ladd McConkey, tight end Brock Bowers, tackle Amarius Mims, and running back Kendall Milton, the Bulldogs have showcased their depth and resilience.

However, their historically formidable defense, which boasted numerous NFL players in the past two seasons, may not be quite as fearsome this year. Nonetheless, Georgia has found ways to compensate and maintain their competitive edge.

As the regular season draws to a close, all eyes are on the Bulldogs as they aim to etch their names in the history books by becoming the first team in the poll era to clinch three consecutive national titles. The road ahead may hold more obstacles, but with their proven track record and unwavering determination, Georgia is poised to continue their dominance and chase greatness.

With the College Football Playoff selection Sunday approaching rapidly, the question remains: Will Georgia complete their historic three-peat, or will another team rise to challenge their reign as the kings of college football? Only time will tell.
