Four-star quarterback George MacIntyre has committed to the University of Tennessee, marking a significant in-state recruiting victory for head coach Josh Heupel. MacIntyre, ranked No. 39 in the 2025 ESPN 300, is considered the second-best pocket passer in his class, making his pledge a historic moment for the program.

In an interview with ESPN last June, MacIntyre expressed his priority for a winning culture in a school. He analyzed the locker room dynamics and coaching staff interactions, favoring a positive and winning atmosphere. His decision to choose Tennessee demonstrates his belief in the program's potential.

Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 185 pounds, MacIntyre currently plays for Brentwood Academy in Tennessee. Despite offers from prestigious programs like Alabama and LSU, he opted to stay close to home, citing the in-state buzz surrounding Tennessee as a compelling factor. As a junior, MacIntyre showcased his skills, completing 67.3% of his passes for 3,229 yards and 25 touchdowns.

MacIntyre's commitment adds to the growing success of Tennessee's recruiting efforts. He becomes the second ESPN 300 prospect in the class of 2025, joining tight end Jack VanDorselaer from Carroll High School (Texas). Notably, MacIntyre is also the third consecutive ESPN 300 quarterback to join the Vols' roster, following Nico Iamaleava in 2023 and Jake Merklinger in 2024.

Coach Heupel and the Volunteers have been building a formidable program. Their 2023 and 2024 recruiting classes ranked 16th and 13th, respectively, in ESPN's team rankings. On the field, Tennessee posted an impressive 9-4 record in 2023, finishing 19th in total offense nationally.

MacIntyre will join a quarterback room led by Iamaleava, who made a strong debut as a starter in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl, completing 12 of 19 passes for 151 yards and a touchdown. With the talent and depth in the quarterback position, Tennessee's offense is poised for continued success.

MacIntyre's commitment not only strengthens Tennessee's football program but also highlights their ability to attract top-tier talent from within the state. As the Volunteers' first in-state ESPN 300 signal-caller in program history, MacIntyre's decision is a testament to the program's growth and appeal.

With the addition of George MacIntyre, Tennessee football fans have even more reason to be excited about the future of their team.
