Former Sacramento Kings G League player, Chance Comanche, has been arrested and is now facing an open murder charge in connection with the death of a woman in Las Vegas earlier this month. Comanche's girlfriend, Sakari Harnden, is also facing the same charge.

Comanche, 27, was arrested by local FBI agents on Friday, following the issuance of a first-degree kidnapping warrant in Las Vegas. He was subsequently taken to the Sacramento County Jail in California. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed on Sunday that both Comanche and Harnden are facing open murder charges for the death of Marayna Rodgers, a 23-year-old medical assistant from Washington state.

Rodgers was reported missing on December 6 during a visit to Las Vegas with friends. It is believed that she was last seen the day before her disappearance, coinciding with a game between the Stockton Kings and the G League Ignite, based in Henderson, Nevada.

Tragically, Rodgers' remains were discovered in a desert area outside of Las Vegas. The exact cause of her death remains unknown. However, authorities have revealed that Rodgers and Harnden had a planned meeting prior to her tragic demise.

Harnden, 19, who had previously been arrested on a first-degree kidnapping charge, is currently being held in a Las Vegas jail. According to the initial criminal complaint, Harnden allegedly held or detained Rodgers against her will with the intention of causing physical harm or killing her. In a separate case, Harnden also faces an unrelated theft charge in Las Vegas for allegedly stealing at least one Rolex watch.

Comanche's court appearance is expected to take place in Sacramento County on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Harnden has a preliminary hearing scheduled for December 28.

Standing at 6-foot-10 and weighing 210 pounds, Comanche made an appearance in one NBA game last season while playing for the Portland Trail Blazers. As a former player for the University of Arizona, he went undrafted in 2017 and has since played in various leagues, including the G League, The Basketball League, and the Türkiye Basketbol Ligi. The Stockton Kings announced their release of Comanche on Friday, providing no further details on the matter.

The tragic nature of the case has left the basketball community shocked, as investigations into the circumstances surrounding Rodgers' death continue.
