With Florida State's spot in the College Football Playoff hanging in the balance, the Seminoles are still figuring out their quarterback situation for the ACC Championship Game against Louisville. The team has been "working through the process" with quarterback Tate Rodemaker, as confirmed by a school spokesperson.

Rodemaker, who started FSU's regular-season finale against Florida on November 25, briefly exited the game after taking a late hit to the head. He missed only two plays before returning to lead the Seminoles to a touchdown. While Rodemaker initially showed no serious symptoms, he reportedly experienced some after-effects on Sunday, prompting further evaluation. As a result, the team is uncertain about his availability going into the championship game.

Coach Mike Norvell shared that Rodemaker has been participating in individual work in practice this week, including some team activities. However, freshman Brock Glenn has been receiving the majority of the snaps during team activities. Glenn, a three-star recruit in the Class of 2023, has limited in-game experience, attempting only four passes this season.

For Florida State, this quarterback uncertainty poses a significant challenge. No team playing for a conference championship wants to rely on its third-string quarterback, especially one with minimal in-game experience. The drop-off in the offense has already been apparent since the injury to primary quarterback Jordan Travis, and it is likely to be exacerbated if Rodemaker or Glenn has to step in against Louisville's formidable defense.

The Seminoles' performance in the ACC Championship Game will be critical for their College Football Playoff aspirations. Despite the quarterback situation, there is still hope that a victory over Louisville could secure their spot in the four-team field. The College Football Playoff has never excluded a 13-0 Power 5 conference champion.

Drawing a comparison to Ohio State's situation in 2014, where they had to rely on a third-string quarterback in their conference championship, Florida State's situation differs slightly. While Ohio State was able to prove their improvement throughout the season and secure a CFP berth with a convincing win, Florida State's undefeated record as an ACC champion should hold significant weight with the selection committee.

Committee chair Boo Corrigan has acknowledged that Florida State is "very different" without Travis, but the committee has also maintained the Seminoles' position in the top four rankings. It is unlikely that the committee would penalize the Seminoles if they manage to win with either Rodemaker or Glenn at quarterback. An undefeated 13-0 ACC champion deserves consideration, although they may be seeded lower than expected.

As the ACC Championship Game approaches, Florida State will continue to evaluate their quarterback situation and prepare for a challenging matchup against Louisville. The outcome of this game will not only determine their conference title but also their potential path to the College Football Playoff.
