In roster news for the Florida State Seminoles, offensive lineman Thomas Shrader has made the decision to enter the transfer portal, signaling a departure from the team. The redshirt junior, who has grappled with injuries throughout his time at FSU, leaves behind a history of contributions to the Seminoles' offensive line.

According to Shrader's FSU bio, he saw action in the season-opening victory against Duquesne, showcasing his skills on the field. Throughout his college career, he has been recognized for his academic achievements, earning a spot on the ACC Honor Roll and being designated a Seminole Scholar.

Shrader's versatility as a lineman has been evident, as he has been able to play multiple positions. He appeared in four games during his time at FSU, including a start at left guard against North Carolina State. This particular game was noteworthy as it featured an offensive line composed of four freshmen, a feat that had not been seen since the 2011 Champs Sports Bowl. Shrader also made his collegiate debut against No. 12 Miami and went on to contribute in games against Pitt and Duke.

Prior to joining the Florida State Seminoles, Shrader earned a three-star rating and was ranked as the nation's 13th center and 75th overall prospect in Florida by 247Sports. He demonstrated his prowess on the field during his senior year at Venice High School, helping his team reach the semifinal round of the 7A state playoffs. His blocking skills contributed to an offense that rushed for nearly 3,000 yards and averaged 32.8 points per game. In his junior year, Shrader played a vital role in an offense that achieved near-perfect balance, amassing 2,892 rushing yards and 2,790 passing yards while advancing to the semifinal round of the state playoffs. He was also part of a state championship-winning team during his sophomore year, where the offense averaged 39.5 points per game and accumulated 3,145 passing yards and 2,982 rushing yards.

The decision to transfer, while disappointing for FSU fans, may provide Shrader with a fresh start and an opportunity to contribute to another program. As the offensive lineman enters the transfer portal, his time at Florida State will be remembered for his dedication, perseverance through injuries, and commitment to excellence both on and off the field.

It remains to be seen where Thomas Shrader will continue his collegiate football career, but his experience and versatility make him an appealing prospect for other teams. The Florida State Seminoles will now look to make adjustments to their offensive line unit as they prepare for the upcoming season.
