Ferris State Seeks Historic Three-Peat at the 2023 NCAA DII Football Championship

The anticipation is building for the 2023 NCAA Division II football championship as the selection show revealed the tournament schedule and teams vying for the title. The selection show, which aired on Sunday, November 12 at 6 p.m. ET, announced the 28 teams that will compete in the tournament, divided into four Super Regions.
Unlike previous years, no conference receives an automatic qualification to the 2023 championship. Instead, earned access is granted to the highest-ranked team from each conference if they rank in the top nine of the final super region rankings. One of the highlighted games features last year's national champion, Ferris State, as they face off against Grand Valley State in a highly anticipated battle. Ferris State will be aiming for their historic third consecutive national championship, having won back-to-back titles in 2021 and 2022.
The road to the championship is paved with challenging matchups, and the second round, scheduled for Saturday, November 25, promises to intensify the excitement. Tiffin, Benedict, Harding, and Colorado School of Mines are among the top-seeded teams who will enter the second round, awaiting their opponents in the first-round matchups.
As the tournament progresses, the quarterfinals will take place on Saturday, December 2, at various campus sites. Semifinals will follow on Saturday, December 9, setting the stage for the ultimate showdown on December 16 at the McKinney ISD Stadium in McKinney, Texas.
