FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. - The Atlanta Falcons will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a pivotal divisional matchup on Sunday without four key players. Inside linebacker Nate Landman, right tackle Kaleb McGary, and defensive linemen David Onyemata and LaCale London have been ruled out due to injuries.
Landman, McGary, and Onyemata did not participate in practice throughout the week, all sustaining injuries in the Falcons' Week 13 game at MetLife Stadium. London, on the other hand, was listed as a full participant after being designated to return from injured reserve earlier in the week.
The absence of these players will undoubtedly pose challenges for the Falcons as they aim to secure a victory against the Buccaneers. Landman's presence in the middle of the defense will be missed, while McGary's absence on the offensive line could affect the team's protection. Onyemata's absence on the defensive line leaves a void in Atlanta's pass rush, and losing London further weakens their defensive depth.
In addition to the four players ruled out, the Falcons also have five players listed as questionable for Sunday's game. Cornerbacks A.J. Terrell, Jeff Okudah, and Mike Hughes are all dealing with respective injuries. Terrell, who left last Sunday's game with a concussion, has been progressing through the league's concussion protocol. Coach Arthur Smith stated that the team will make a decision on Terrell after consulting with medical professionals on Saturday.
Okudah returned to practice on Friday as a limited participant, indicating a potential return to action. Hughes, who was inactive in the Falcons' previous game, participated fully in practice all week.
Wide receiver Mack Hollins and center Drew Dalman are also listed as questionable. Hollins, who has missed the last three games due to an ankle injury, fully participated in practice throughout the week, suggesting a possible return to the field. Dalman, however, was limited in practice on Thursday and Friday.
The Falcons will need to rely on their depth and the performance of the players available as they face the formidable Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The injury report indicates a challenging game ahead for Atlanta, who must navigate these setbacks in their pursuit of a victory.
