New York Jets running back Dalvin Cook is set to depart from the team, as announced by his agents at LAA Sports on Tuesday. Cook and the Jets have mutually agreed to part ways, with the hope of him joining a playoff-bound team. Once the official departure is finalized, Cook will become subject to waivers.

To facilitate his move, Cook has decided to forfeit his remaining guaranteed money. His contract with the Jets included a guaranteed salary of $5.8 million for this year. The decision to leave the team comes after Cook's limited playing time and below-average statistics this season.

Having signed with the Jets as a free agent during the summer, Cook was brought in as insurance in case Breece Hall faced challenges in recovering from a torn ACL. However, Hall has proven to be in excellent form, resulting in Cook's limited opportunities on the field. Throughout the season, Cook managed only 67 carries for 214 yards and 15 catches for 78 yards.

This decline in performance is a stark contrast to Cook's impressive track record with the Minnesota Vikings, where he recorded four consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. After hitting the open market last offseason, Cook was unable to replicate his previous success with the Jets.

Now, with his departure from the Jets imminent, it remains to be seen if Cook can reestablish his form and make a positive impact with a different team before the season comes to an end. Football enthusiasts eagerly await the resolution of the waiver process to discover which team will have the opportunity to secure Cook's services.

In the following days, the fate of Dalvin Cook and his future in the NFL will soon be decided, as teams evaluate the potential benefits of adding the talented running back to their rosters.
