The Indianapolis Colts have made the decision to suspend cornerback Tony Brown and wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie for three games due to their conduct detrimental to the team. The suspensions come at a crucial time as the Colts are in the midst of a heated race in the AFC South.
Both players were inactive in the Colts' recent Week 15 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. The team has not disclosed the specific actions that led to the suspensions. However, it has been stated that the suspensions will cover the remainder of the regular season, totaling three games.
Tony Brown, currently in his second season with the Colts, has been a consistent presence in their defensive lineup. In the 12 games he has played in the 2023 season, the 28-year-old cornerback has recorded 10 combined tackles, one pass defensed, one forced fumble, and one interception. Prior to joining the Colts, Brown had stints with the Green Bay Packers and Cincinnati Bengals after going undrafted out of Alabama in 2018.
Isaiah McKenzie, who joined the Colts this season after spending five years with the Buffalo Bills, has made contributions on offense and special teams. In 13 games played this season, McKenzie has caught 11 passes for 82 yards, returned 23 punts for 204 yards, and brought back six kicks for 152 yards. His standout year came last season with the Bills, where he amassed 478 yards from scrimmage and scored five touchdowns.
The suspensions of Brown and McKenzie will present a challenge for the Colts as they navigate the final stretch of the regular season. With a heated race in the AFC South, the team will need to rely on other players to step up in their absence and maintain their momentum.
It remains to be seen how these suspensions will impact the Colts' postseason hopes, but the team will have to overcome the loss of two key players and rally together as they strive for success in the remaining games of the 2023 campaign.
