The Chicago Bears have demonstrated their unwavering commitment to community involvement by participating in the annual NFL initiative, My Cause My Cleats. This year, a record number of players and staff members, including President & CEO Kevin Warren, Chairman George H. McCaskey, general manager Ryan Poles, and head coach Matt Eberflus, have joined forces to support various charitable causes.
Eberflus commended the dedication of the players, who have spent their personal time reaching out to the community, including visiting children's hospitals and supporting youth flag football programs. "They've done a really good job of that, and I just keep encouraging them to do it," Eberflus stated during a Wednesday team meeting.
The Bears' commitment to the initiative extends beyond the football field, as the business staff also had the opportunity to participate for the first time. With nearly 80 percent of the business staff involved in painting a pair of Air Force 1's supporting their cause, the overall support from the club has been remarkable.
Warren expressed his enthusiasm for the extensive participation, stating, "It's another opportunity for us to show the importance of what the Chicago Bears mean to this community and also what we can do as a franchise...to really make the world a better place." The Bears' involvement in My Cause My Cleats underscores their commitment to making a collective impact.
McCaskey acknowledged the influence of the players and emphasized the importance of leading by example. "People are looking to us, seeing what we're doing. We're emphasizing to the staff that they should get involved...the fact that Kevin and Ryan and Matt are all behind this is terrific," McCaskey stated.
Not only are the Bears' leaders supporting the community through their involvement, but they are also spreading their support across various causes. Warren is representing the Warren Family Foundation, which positively impacts different parts of the community. McCaskey is supporting the Chicago Scholars program, which prepares students for life after school and supports them through college acceptance and career access. Poles chose to support the Spouses and Families of Seals, and Eberflus is advocating for the Zacharias Sexual Abuse Center.
These charitable causes, among many others, will receive national attention on December 10th when the Bears take the field wearing their custom cleats for the game. Staff members who participated in painting their sneakers will also proudly display them at Soldier Field.
Warren believes that the Bears' comprehensive involvement in My Cause My Cleats will help bridge the gap between football and business, not only within the organization but also across the entire NFL. "To be able to bring their own style and swag to the sneaker game while our players do it with the cleats is special, as well as bringing awareness to so many different charities and initiatives," Warren added.
The Chicago Bears' dedication to making a positive impact in the community through My Cause My Cleats is a testament to their commitment to being more than just a football team. Their collective support for various causes highlights their desire to create a better world both on and off the field.
