Bank of America Stadium Chosen as Host Venue for CONMEBOL Copa America 2024 in Charlotte

Charlotte, NC (Monday, December 4, 2023) - In an exciting announcement, CONMEBOL, the governing body of soccer in South America, revealed that Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, has been selected as a host city and venue for the prestigious CONMEBOL Copa America 2024 tournament. The event, which will feature some of the biggest names in international soccer, including Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, and the United States, is set to take place in June and July 2024.
Uptown Charlotte will witness a Semifinal match on July 10, followed by the Third Place Playoff on July 13, adding to the city's vibrant soccer scene. Copa America, South America's renowned continental championship, will showcase the talents of powerhouse teams such as Argentina, Brazil, and Colombia. Additionally, Mexico and the United States will represent North America in this highly anticipated tournament.
With a total of 32 matches, the tournament will attract an estimated 150,000 soccer enthusiasts to Uptown Charlotte, making it a week filled with excitement and fervor for the sport.
Bank of America Stadium has already seen tremendous success in hosting soccer matches. In 2023, three matches drew over 60,000 fans, including the match-up against Inter Miami featuring global superstar Lionel Messi. These events have not only attracted visitors from all 50 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and 31 countries, but have also helped elevate Charlotte as one of America's best soccer cities.
Charlotte FC President Joe LaBue expressed his pride in being selected as a host city, stating, "It's an incredible honor for Bank of America Stadium, and Charlotte, North Carolina, to be selected as a host city for CONMEBOL Copa America 2024. The eyes of the world will be on Uptown in July, and we can't wait to showcase Charlotte as one of America's best soccer cities."

The CONMEBOL Copa America 2024™️ will be a joint effort between the Confederation of South American Football and the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF). The tournament will include 10 CONMEBOL teams and 6 guest teams from CONCACAF.
The six CONCACAF teams qualifying through the Concacaf Nations League 2023/24 are the United States, Jamaica, Mexico, and Panama. The other two participants will be determined through a Play-In between Canada and Trinidad and Tobago, as well as Costa Rica and Honduras, scheduled for Saturday, March 23, 2024.
This edition of the tournament will mark the second time that it hosts 16 teams, previously seen in the 2016 edition also held in the United States.
Charlottians and soccer enthusiasts alike can look forward to the draw for the CONMEBOL Copa America 2024, which will take place on Thursday, December 7 in Miami, Florida. Teams will be drawn into groups of four, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the knockout stages.
