In a strategic move aimed at restructuring their organization, the Arizona Cardinals have laid off multiple high-ranking employees, including three vice presidents, according to sources. The layoffs, which occurred a day prior to the team's relocation of non-football operations to a nearby workspace, affected approximately 10 individuals across various departments on the business side.
Among those let go was Chief Financial Officer Greg Lee, who had held his position for nearly 15 of his 18 years with the team. Additionally, Mike Iaquinta, the vice president of business development, with 15 years of experience, and Tim Delaney, the vice president of digital content and creative, with 16 years of involvement, were also impacted by the restructuring.
Sources also revealed that Steve Ryan, the team's senior vice president for corporate partnerships, resigned after two decades of service. The layoffs extended to the Cardinals' social media team as well, resulting in the departure of two members.
During an all-staff meeting held in the practice facility's auditorium, the employees moving to the new facility were informed about the job cuts. However, it was emphasized that the jobs of those present at the meeting were secure.
These layoffs come in the wake of the team hiring Jeremy Walls as their chief operating officer in August. Since his appointment, Walls has undertaken an internal audit of the Cardinals' business side departments, contributing to the decision-making process behind the restructuring.
Over the past few months, the Cardinals have undergone significant changes on their business side, forming seven new departments and renaming another, as observed through an examination of their website since October.
This latest development reflects the team's ongoing efforts to realign their organizational structure for improved efficiency and performance.
