He further mentioned that they had made efforts to offer McNair a multi-year contract that would have positioned him among the top-tier coaches in the conference, including competitive compensation and incentives for assistant coaches.

The university acknowledged McNair's success during his tenure, which included leading the Alcorn State Braves to four SWAC East Division titles and two SWAC Championships. McNair's coaching record at Alcorn State stands at an impressive 38-17 in the SWAC conference, with an overall record of 48-34.

During the previous season, the Braves achieved a 7-4 overall record and a 6-2 record in the SWAC conference. Alcorn State's decision to part ways with McNair marks the end of a successful era for the team.
