Snyder disclosed that Rebel Moon shares a universe with Army of the Dead, adding an exciting twist to both films.

During the interview, Snyder explained that Army of the Dead holds a vast mythology that was not fully explored in the movie. He further revealed that there is actually a character from Rebel Moon who was intended to appear in the unproduced Army of the Dead animated series.

Originally planned as a prequel to Snyder's zombie thriller, the Army of the Dead TV series, titled Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas, was set to delve deeper into the lore of the film. However, the series never came to fruition, preventing the crossover from taking place. In the hypothetical series, characters would have ventured into another dimension through a portal and encountered beings from that alternate realm.

Snyder informed Total Film that one of the characters from Rebel Moon would have been featured in a bar scene set in the other dimension. This revelation solidifies the shared universe connection between Rebel Moon and Army of the Dead, hinting at a potential future where characters from both films could interact.

Rebel Moon, described as a sci-fi space adventure, diverges from the zombie genre tropes seen in Army of the Dead. However, Snyder mentioned that there are sci-fi elements present in Army of the Dead itself. He teased that astute viewers may have noticed the presence of certain zombies that appeared to be more than just undead creatures, suggesting the involvement of technology or even government surveillance.

While the Army of the Dead received mixed reviews, with IGN giving it a rating of 6/10, Rebel Moon is eagerly anticipated by fans of Snyder's work. The first part of Rebel Moon, titled Rebel Moon Part 1: A Child of Fire, is set to premiere exclusively on Netflix on December 22, 2023.

As anticipation builds for the release of Rebel Moon, Snyder's revelation about the shared universe between Rebel Moon and Army of the Dead has sparked excitement among fans. It opens up the possibility of a cohesive cinematic universe that intertwines different genres and narratives, providing an immersive experience for viewers.

With Rebel Moon poised to captivate audiences in the near future, fans eagerly await the unfolding of Snyder's ambitious vision and the potential for further stories within this interconnected universe.
