In the world of wrestling, anticipation is building for the release of the film "The Iron Claw," which delves into the captivating story of the Von Erich Family. With its impending release this weekend, the movie has garnered critical acclaim, primarily for its exceptional performances. However, there is a sense of unease among some wrestling enthusiasts due to the family's tragic history, marked by the untimely deaths of David, Mike, Kris, and Kerry Von Erich during the 80s and 90s.

One individual who knows the Von Erich tragedy all too well is wrestling icon Jake Roberts, who had the opportunity to work closely with some of the brothers during their time in World Class Championship Wrestling in the 1980s. Roberts has been open about his lack of enthusiasm for "The Iron Claw," previously stating that he would not be watching the film. On a recent episode of his podcast, "The Snake Pit," Roberts spoke candidly about the enduring legacy of the Von Erich family.

"It's impossible for their tragic history not to be their lasting legacy," Roberts somberly expressed. "Losing three sons, all to suicides... it's a heartbreaking legacy that will forever be associated with the Von Erich name."

Recently, Roberts once again crossed paths with the Von Erich family as Kevin Von Erich, along with his sons Marshall and Ross, made appearances in both AEW and Ring of Honor during their recent shows in Texas. When asked about the Von Erich sons potentially continuing their family's wrestling legacy, Roberts offered a mixed perspective.

"I believe there's a place for them in the industry if someone is willing to work with them," Roberts remarked. "However, it will never be the same as it once was."

As wrestling fans eagerly await the release of "The Iron Claw," it is clear that the Von Erich family's tragic history continues to cast a long shadow. Jake Roberts' poignant reflections serve as a reminder of the enduring impact of these untimely losses. Whether the Von Erich sons will find their place in professional wrestling remains to be seen, but they will undoubtedly carry the weight of their family legacy as they navigate their own paths in the industry.
