In a recent report by The Hollywood Reporter, it has been revealed that the release of the next installment in the popular 'Mission: Impossible' franchise, starring Tom Cruise, has been delayed by a year. Paramount and Skydance have pushed back the film's release date from its initial date of June 28, 2024, to May 23, 2025.

Tentatively titled 'Mission: Impossible 8', the film was originally planned to be released as 'Dead Reckoning Part Two'. However, it seems that the second half of the title has been dropped, and a new title is expected to be announced at a later date.

The delay in production can be attributed to various factors. First, the feature had to shut down production to allow Tom Cruise and the rest of the cast to promote 'Dead Reckoning Part 1'. Shortly after, the film encountered another setback due to the SAG-AFTRA strike in mid-July, preventing the cast from returning to work on the movie. The horror film 'A Quiet Place: Day One', starring Lupita Nyong'o and set in the same world as John Krasinski's 'A Quiet Place' franchise, has moved from its original date of March 8, 2024, to June 28, 2024. Furthermore, the untitled Spongebob Squarepants movie, initially scheduled for May 23, 2025, has been moved to December 19, 2025.
