Late night host Stephen Colbert is currently in recovery after undergoing surgery for a ruptured appendix, as he revealed in social media posts on Monday. As a result, his popular talk show, "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," which airs on CBS, has been canceled for the week.

In his social media posts, Colbert addressed the curiosity surrounding his absence, humorously writing, "I'm sure you're thinking, 'Turkey overdose, Steve? Gravy boat capsize?' Actually, I'm recovering from surgery for a ruptured appendix." He went on to express his gratitude towards his doctors for their care and his family for their support. Colbert lightheartedly added, "Going forward, all emails to my appendix will be handled by my pancreas."

As a result of his recovery, the show did not have a new episode scheduled for Monday night. However, the canceled guests for the week included Jennifer Garner, director Baz Luhrmann, guitarist John Scofield, Patrick Stewart, Jon Batiste, Barbra Streisand, and Kelsey Grammer.

Colbert has been the host of "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" on CBS since 2015, following his successful stint as the host of Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report" from 2005 to 2014.

Details about Colbert's surgery and recovery timeline were not provided in the social media posts. It remains unclear when he will return to the hosting duties of "The Late Show." Fans and viewers of the show will be eagerly awaiting the well-known comedian's return to the airwaves.

We wish Stephen Colbert a speedy recovery from his surgery and look forward to seeing him back on our screens soon.
