In a recent development, Austin North, known for his role as Topper in the hit series Outer Banks, has issued a statement addressing his recent arrest on charges of gross misdemeanor battery. The incident occurred during his trip to a Las Vegas emergency room earlier this week.

North took to his Instagram story on Thursday to express his deep upset regarding the events that transpired in Las Vegas. He attributed his behavior to a severe anxiety attack, revealing that he has battled anxiety for several years. The actor further explained that he has very little memory of the events that transpired that day.

Despite his limited recollection, North emphasized his utmost respect for healthcare workers and hospital staff. He acknowledged the severity of the panic attack he experienced, deeming it the most extreme he has ever encountered. The actor hopes that his own experience sheds light on this debilitating disorder, offering hope to others who have also struggled.

According to a police report obtained by TMZ, North was taken into custody after allegedly assaulting nurses and a phlebotomist at the University Medical Center hospital emergency room in Las Vegas. The report states that North punched a nurse in the head and shoved another in the face. Additionally, he allegedly pushed a phlebotomist, who responded in self-defense by using a tray to strike North. TMZ also reports that North purportedly attacked another individual at the medical center.

North's arrest resulted in being handcuffed to a gurney and subsequently booked for gross misdemeanor battery. He was later released on bail. The incident occurred on Tuesday during North's visit to Las Vegas for the Super Bowl, as indicated by his Instagram updates, in which he expressed gratitude for the "amazing Super Bowl experience."

Austin North's portrayal of Topper as a "Kook" from the affluent side of the Outer Banks, as well as his character's relationship with Madelyn Cline's Sarah Cameron, has garnered him a notable fan following. However, the recent incident has undoubtedly raised concerns about the actor's actions and their potential impact on his career.

As this story develops, North's statement aims to spark a conversation about anxiety disorders and raise awareness about their debilitating effects. It remains to be seen how this incident will impact his personal and professional life in the future.
