In a surprising shift from her reality TV fame, Kate Gosselin has settled into a slower-paced life in North Carolina, nearly two decades after rising to fame on "Jon & Kate Plus 8." The mother of eight was recently seen taking a leisurely stroll with her fluffy white dog near her waterfront property in Lake Norman.

The New York Post reported that Kate made the move from Pennsylvania to North Carolina in 2022, seeking a downsized lifestyle. Despite her relatively recent relocation, Kate had purchased a spacious four-bedroom, five-bathroom home in Pennsylvania back in 2018 for $750,000.

Kate's life took a significant turn in 2009 when she and her then-husband Jon Gosselin ended their marriage. The divorce was announced on an episode of their popular TLC series. Both parents expressed their commitment to prioritizing their children's well-being, despite the difficulties they faced.

Two months after their divorce, allegations of Jon's infidelity emerged, with photographs showing him with Deanna Hummel. However, both Jon and Deanna vehemently denied the cheating allegations.

One of the sextuplets from "Jon and Kate Plus 8," Collin, recently opened up about his strained relationship with Kate. Collin revealed that their relationship became severed after he was sent to the Fairmount Behavioral Health Institute, and he has been living with Jon since 2018. Collin attributed the estrangement to the pressure of being part of a reality television show, stating that it tore their family apart and left them with less quality time together.

Reflecting on his challenging upbringing, Collin acknowledged that he aimed to overcome the tough situations and build a positive future for himself. Despite the estrangement, he expressed a desire to have a relationship with Kate in the future.

Kate's move to North Carolina offers her a fresh start, away from the public eye. Before the relocation, she resided in a sprawling 7,300-square-foot home in Pennsylvania. In 2021, her Pennsylvania house, featured on "Kate Plus Eight," was sold for $1.085 million.

Since settling in North Carolina, Kate has been relatively low-key. She was spotted walking her dog and running errands, including pumping gas. In June 2021, she obtained her North Carolina Board of Nursing license, showcasing her previous occupation as a labor and delivery nurse in Pennsylvania.

Kate's recent appearance on FOX's "Special Forces: World's Toughest Test" marked her return to reality television after her dating show, "Kate Plus Date," aired in 2019. However, her stint on the military-style show was short-lived due to a neck injury sustained during a physically demanding challenge. The injury weighed heavily on her, as she had hoped to push her boundaries and prove herself.

As Kate Gosselin embraces her new chapter in North Carolina, she reflects on the past struggles and strives to find peace and happiness in her downsized lifestyle. While her relationship with some of her children remains strained, she remains hopeful for future reconciliation.
