Pop icon Cher has reportedly filed for a conservatorship of her son, Elijah Blue Allman, citing concerns over his alleged struggle with substance abuse and inability to manage his financial resources. According to legal documents obtained by the Blast, Cher is seeking to become the sole conservator of Allman's estate, as she believes that he is "substantially unable to manage his own financial resources."
The documents further state that due to Elijah's current mental and physical health issues, he is unable to form or express a preference concerning the appointment of a conservator for his estate. Cher has expressed concern that any funds given to Allman would be immediately spent on drugs, leaving him with no assets to support himself and potentially putting his life at risk.
This latest development comes months after Allman filed for divorce from his estranged wife, Marieangela King, also known as Queeny, in 2021. In December 2022, King alleged in divorce documents that Cher had hired four men to intervene and attempt to kidnap Allman from a hotel room in New York City. She also claimed that Cher continued to interfere with her son's health management and control his location and accessibility, despite their agreement to work on their marriage.
Allman's social media posts have featured the hashtag #ImprisonmentViaConservatorship, though the meaning behind it remains unclear. Cher has previously spoken publicly about her son's alleged battle with drug addiction.
The Post has reached out to representatives for Cher for comment on the matter.
As the legal proceedings continue, the conservatorship filing underscores the importance of addressing mental health and substance abuse issues within families. Cher's proactive action in seeking to protect her son's well-being is a reminder of the challenges many families face when dealing with addiction and the need for appropriate support and intervention.
