After a delay caused by labor disputes in Hollywood, the 75th Emmy Awards has finally found its host. Anthony Anderson, the star of the hit show black-ish, will be taking the stage as the emcee for the live event. The ceremony, originally scheduled for September 18th, will now be airing on Monday, January 15th, which also marks Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The live broadcast will begin at 8/7c on Fox.
In a statement, Anderson expressed his excitement about hosting the milestone 75th Emmy Awards and bringing the creative community together. "With our industry's recent challenges behind us, we can get back to what we love - dressing up and honoring ourselves," he stated. Anderson humorously added that he was thrilled to host when he found out Taylor Swift was unavailable, and he looks forward to being a part of the biggest night in television.
The Peacock Theater at LA Live in downtown Los Angeles will serve as the venue for the Emmy Awards ceremony. This is not the first time Fox has hosted the event, with their last hosting stint in 2019 being a host-less affair. In more recent years, Jimmy Kimmel (for ABC in 2020), Cedric the Entertainer (CBS, 2021), and Kenan Thompson (NBC, 2022) took turns emceeing the awards during the pandemic era.
Additionally, the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, initially scheduled for September 9th and 10th, will now be held on Saturday, January 6th, and Sunday, January 7th, at the Peacock Theater at LA Live. An edited version of the ceremony will air on FXX on Saturday, January 13th at 8 pm.
The rescheduled Emmy Awards will fall after other major industry events. The Golden Globes are set to take place on January 7th, the SAG Awards on January 10th, and the Critics' Choice Awards on January 14th.
The announcement of Anthony Anderson as the host of the 75th Emmy Awards has generated anticipation among fans and industry insiders alike. As the industry gathers to celebrate television's biggest achievements, viewers are eagerly awaiting the historic telecast on Fox.
