### New 3-on-3 Basketball League "Unrivaled" Seeks to Sign Caitlin Clark

"Unrivaled," a new 3-on-3 basketball league led by Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier, is gearing up for its debut in January and is actively seeking to recruit 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark. According to a report from Front Office Sports, the league is going all out to add the star rookie to its roster.

Designed to provide WNBA players an alternative to playing overseas during the offseason, "Unrivaled" aims to kick off its first season with 30 players, all of whom will receive equity stakes in the league. As of now, 26 players have been announced, leaving four spots open. Collier hinted during a recent interview on "Run It Back" that some of these spots might be filled by rookies, but refrained from confirming if Caitlin Clark has been made an offer.

Collier praised Clark’s impact on the game and the revenue she is generating, citing her modest $75,000 annual salary as not reflecting her true market value. Clark has vastly increased the profile of women’s basketball, with teams having to relocate games to larger venues to accommodate the crowds she draws.

Despite the league’s interest, Clark has hinted at taking a break from basketball in the upcoming offseason. During ESPN's coverage of the Indiana Fever's final playoff game, Ryan Ruocco stated that Clark plans not to participate in any basketball activities this winter. Clark herself mentioned post-elimination that she has no concrete plans for the offseason and joked about trying her hand at professional golf.

Unrivaled recently secured a media rights agreement with TNT Sports, promising over 45 primetime regular-season games to be broadcasted on TNT and truTV, with streaming available on Max. Bringing Clark onboard could significantly boost the league’s visibility and viewership. Clark has been a major driver for TV ratings this season, with CBS, ABC, ESPN, ESPN 2, ION, and NBA TV all recording their highest WNBA viewership numbers for games featuring her.

The league is making a strong push to attract Clark, recognizing the substantial audience she commands. While lucrative financial incentives may not sway Clark, given her substantial endorsements including a $28 million deal from Nike, Unrivaled could offer the chance to compete against top-tier players in a streamlined, travel-free season based in Miami.

With only two months before the league begins, the final four player revelations are expected soon. Whether Caitlin Clark will be among them remains to be seen.
