The film, directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, who is known for the Netflix hit **"Red Notice,"** is set to begin shooting this fall in Australia.
Todd Lieberman from Hidden Pictures, Bob Koplar from World Events Productions, and David Hoberman from Hobie Films are on board as producers. "Voltron" is originally based on the Japanese sci-fi series *"Beast King GoLion"* and *"Kikou Kantai Dairugger XV,"* which were adapted into the mid-1980s syndicated show *"Voltron: Defender of the Universe."* The story revolves around five young pilots commanding robotic lions that combine to form the powerful mega-robot, Voltron.
While plot specifics for the new adaptation remain under wraps, the role is expected to significantly elevate Quinn-Toye's career, placing him in the spotlight for casting agents and producers. The casting process was comprehensive, involving screen tests in early and mid-September. Quinn-Toye was among the final four candidates shortlisted for the male lead. The casting for the female lead, which saw three actresses tested, has yet to be decided.
Despite not having any film credits, Quinn-Toye has made an impression with his television appearances, notably in the BBC Three series "Badults" and as an extra on an episode of "Outlander." His stage work, particularly at the London's Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts and the Dance School of Scotland, has been a highlight of his young career. Quinn-Toye was the understudy to Tom Holland in the recent West End production of "Romeo & Juliet" and also played the role of Paris.
This role in "Voltron" could be a major stepping stone for Daniel Quinn-Toye, providing a significant boost to his acting career and making him a name to watch in the film industry.
