Iconic "Beverly Hills Cop" Actor John Ashton Dies at 76

Ashton passed away peacefully in Ft. Collins, Colorado, after a valiant battle with cancer, Page Six has confirmed.
Ashton's representative, Alan Somers, released a statement expressing the profound sorrow and remembrance felt by his family and friends. "John leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service," Somers said. "His memory will forever be treasured by his wife, children, grandchildren, brother, sisters, extended family, and all who loved him."
Survived by his wife of 24 years, Robin Hoye, Ashton was a cherished father to Michelle Ashton and Michael Thomas Ashton, and a devoted stepfather to three additional children. His grandson, Henry, was especially dear to him.
Throughout his illustrious 50-year career in Hollywood, Ashton made his mark in over 200 films. He gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Sergeant John Taggart in the 1984 hit "Beverly Hills Cop" alongside Eddie Murphy. Recently, Ashton reprised this memorable role in "Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F," which premiered on Netflix in July.
The Massachusetts-born actor also made significant contributions to other major films, including the 1988 feature "Midnight Run" with Robert De Niro and John Hughes' 1987 comedy "Some Kind of Wonderful."
