**New Beatles Documentary Chronicles Iconic First American Visit**
Beatles fans have a new reason to celebrate as "Beatles '64," a documentary produced by Martin Scorsese and directed by David Tedeschi, is set to stream exclusively on Disney+ starting November 29. This film captures the band's monumental first trip to America, featuring never-before-seen footage meticulously restored in 4K by Park Road Post in New Zealand.
The documentary includes rare recordings by legendary documentarians Albert and David Maysles, showcasing historic moments such as The Beatles' initial U.S. concert at the Washington, DC, Coliseum and their appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show. These iconic performances have been demixed by WingNut Films and remixed by Giles Martin, enhancing the immersive experience for viewers.
Alongside the historic scenes, the film incorporates new interviews with surviving band members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, as well as fan testimonies about how The Beatles transformed their lives. The narrative delves beyond the public spectacle of Beatlemania, offering an intimate look at John, Paul, George, and Ringo as they navigated their meteoric rise to fame in February 1964.
"Beatles '64" is a collaborative effort backed by an impressive team, including Scorsese, Margaret Bodde, McCartney, Starr, Olivia Harrison, Sean Ono Lennon, Jonathan Clyde, and Mikaela Beardsley as producers, with Jeff Jones and Rick Yorn serving as executive producers.
Coinciding with the documentary's release is the reissue of seven American Beatles albums on 180-gram audiophile vinyl. Slated for global release on November 22, these albums have been analog cut from their original mono master tapes. The collection, titled "The Beatles: 1964 U.S. Albums In Mono," includes "Meet The Beatles!," "The Beatles' Second Album," "A Hard Day's Night (Original Motion Picture Sound Track)," "Something New," "The Beatles' Story (2LP)," "Beatles '65," and "The Early Beatles."
Fans can pre-order the vinyl box set or the individual albums, marking the first time these records have been available on vinyl since 1995. As anticipation builds, "Beatles '64" promises to offer a nostalgic yet fresh perspective on a pivotal moment in music history.
