In an impressive feat of travel, global pop star Taylor Swift has arrived in Las Vegas just in time for the Super Bowl on Sunday. The confirmation came from the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, who revealed that Swift had traveled a staggering 5,700 miles from Tokyo to Las Vegas.
Fans closely tracked Swift's journey as her private jet made its way from Tokyo to Los Angeles' LAX airport for the first leg of her trip. The 12-hour flight took her across the international date line and traversed nine different time zones. This allowed her to catch the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, with whom her boyfriend, All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce, plays.
The tight schedule was necessitated by Swift's ongoing Eras Tour and its international touring schedule. Immediately after finishing her fourth consecutive show at Tokyo Dome in Japan, she hurried to Haneda airport to board her private jet, according to the Associated Press. Her concert reportedly ended at 9:12 p.m. in Tokyo, which was 4:12 a.m. in Las Vegas.
Journalists stationed near Haneda airport observed a group of individuals, shielded by umbrellas, boarding the plane. Later, Swifties and aviation journalists identified a private jet marked "The Football Era," which they believed Swift was onboard. The plane landed at LAX around 3:30 p.m. local time.
However, concerns were raised about Swift's ability to land in Las Vegas due to a shortage of private jet parking spaces. The FAA reported that all 475 spots across the four airports in the Las Vegas area were occupied. To overcome this obstacle, Swift chose to land in Los Angeles, approximately 270 miles away from Las Vegas. The drive from Los Angeles to Las Vegas takes a little over four hours, affording her ample time to reach the city for the game.
It remains unclear whether Swift completed the final leg of her journey by flying or driving. Nevertheless, she successfully arrived in Las Vegas with plenty of time to spare.
Aside from her successful travel endeavors, Swift's ownership of multiple private jets has attracted scrutiny regarding carbon emissions and climate change. Her representatives recently issued a legal threat against a student who was tracking her flights.
Swift's presence at Chiefs games has become somewhat of a tradition. Being a loyal supporter, she rarely misses a game, even attending their win over the Raiders on Christmas Day. The Super Bowl marks her 13th game this season, a number she considers lucky and recently tied to her 13th Grammy Award win on February 4.
After the Super Bowl, Swift is expected to continue her tour with a trip to Australia later in the week.
