Ram Unveils First Electric Van for the US Market - The Ram ProMaster EV

Ram, a leading automotive brand, has revealed its first electric vehicle (EV) for the US market - the Ram ProMaster electric van. The introduction of this eagerly awaited EV marks a significant milestone for Ram and showcases their commitment to zero-emission performance, commercial capabilities, and cutting-edge technology.

The Ram ProMaster EV comes at a time when the US market is witnessing a growing shift towards electric vehicles, with a record 1.2 million EVs sold last year. Ram is determined to be part of this transformative movement, aligning with the Dare Forward 2030 strategy set by its parent company, Stellantis. The ambitious plan aims to achieve 100% EV sales in the European Union and 50% in the US by the end of the decade. Stellantis encompasses several renowned brands like Jeep, Ram, Chrysler, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Dodge, and Maserati.

Ram asserts that the ProMaster EV offers the best value proposition and boasts the lowest total cost of ownership among its lineup. As Ram's inaugural all-electric vehicle in the US, the Ram ProMaster EV is expected to uphold this reputation.

The Ram ProMaster EV will be available in two variants - a delivery model and a cargo model. The delivery EV is already available, while the cargo version will be released at a later stage.

The cargo van will be offered in two versions, one with a 12-foot cargo length and an extended variant with a 13-foot cargo length. Both models provide ample payload capacity, with the cargo van featuring up to 3,020 lbs and the delivery version offering 2,030 lbs. Equipped with a 200 kW electric drive motor (EDM), the Ram ProMaster EV delivers an impressive 268 horsepower and 302 lb-ft of torque.

Powering the electric van is a standard 110 kWh battery pack that aims to provide an estimated range of up to 162 miles in city driving conditions. The ProMaster EV is built on Ram's ProMaster platform but features a specially designed unibody structure optimized for electrification.

In terms of charging capabilities, the electric van offers flexible options. It supports DC fast charging at different power levels, including 50 kW, 85 kW, 125 kW, and 150 kW. Additionally, a level 2 (11 kW) wall box charger is also available for convenient charging at home or work.

Ram emphasizes that the ProMaster EV is highly customizable to meet the diverse demands of customers. The delivery model boasts a 159-inch wheelbase, a "super-high-roof" design, a heated steering wheel, and a heated windshield. Over time, Ram plans to expand the ProMaster EV lineup to offer five configurations, including varying roof heights, cargo lengths, and body styles with cargo lengths of up to 12 or 13 feet.

Inside the ProMaster EV, users can enjoy a spacious cargo area with 524 cubic feet of storage capacity, an 86-inch height, a low floor for ease of loading, and maximum cargo width between the wheel wells.

Ram has also prioritized safety and security features in the ProMaster EV. The electric van features front and rear Park Sense with full stop functionality, as well as different backup alarms. Furthermore, it includes all the safety features of Ram's renowned full-size commercial vans.

With a new front-end design, the Ram ProMaster EV showcases standard LED headlights and fog lights. These headlights offer 70% more Lumens (resulting in a 50% increase in range) compared to the gas-powered model.

To enhance the EV ownership experience, Ram has incorporated features like a Charging Station Locator and EV Dynamic Trip Prediction, which aid in convenient route planning.

The introduction of the Ram ProMaster EV puts Ram in direct competition with other electric delivery vans in the US market, including Rivian's electric delivery van (EDV) and Ford's E-Transit. As electric vans continue to gain popularity and market share, Ram is determined to make a significant impact in this rapidly evolving segment.
