Popular Air Fryer Brand Sold at Walmart and Target Recalls Over 300K Units Due to Safety Concerns

In a recent development, popular air fryer brand sold at Walmart and Target, PowerXL, has announced a voluntary recall of over 300,000 units amidst reports of burns and safety issues. The recall has been initiated due to a faulty connector that links baskets in the dual air fryers, leading to potential accidents and injuries.
The affected air fryers are sold under the PowerXL name, which is manufactured by Empower Brands. The recall specifically targets two models, namely the DUAF-10 and DUAF-005 Vortex Dual-Basket Air Fryers. These models feature two baskets that can be used separately or combined into a single large basket. However, the U-shaped connector holding the baskets together is prone to breaking, causing the baskets to fall and potentially causing harm to users.
The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has reported that multiple incidents of burns have been reported by customers using these air fryers. In some cases, hot baskets have fallen onto individuals, resulting in injuries. This safety concern prompted the recall, which affects air fryers sold between August 2021 and October 2023.
The affected air fryers were available in black or cinnamon colors and were sold at major retailers including Walmart, Target, and Kohl's. The price range for these air fryers was between $60 and $190.
The CPSC is urging owners of the PowerXL DUAF-10 and DUAF-005 models to immediately stop using the affected air fryers and to contact the seller. A full refund will be offered to those who have purchased the recalled units.
It is important to note that this is not the first incident involving safety issues with air fryers. Earlier this year, two million air fryers manufactured by Cosori were recalled due to concerns of fire hazards, burning, melting, or overheating.
Owners of other popular air fryer brands can breathe a sigh of relief as the recall only affects PowerXL air fryers manufactured by Empower Brands.
If you own a PowerXL air fryer, it is recommended to check the model number and UPC code printed either on the bottom of the fryer or on the power cord. Customers can avail more information and assistance by contacting the seller.
DailyMail.com reached out to Empower Brands for comment on the faulty connector and the potential danger it poses to users, but did not receive an immediate response.
