In an effort to combat the escalating cheating problem in Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) and Warzone, game publisher Activision introduced the Ricochet anti-cheat system in 2021. However, two years later, players are frustrated as the cheater population continues to thrive, leaving them unsure of who is genuinely skilled and who is cheating.

Following an official update revealing that more than 23,000 accounts have been banned since mid-November, MW3 players have taken matters into their own hands, brainstorming additional measures to counter cheaters.

Among the suggestions, one highly upvoted comment proposed implementing a ranking system that only unlocks after reaching level 100 or above. This measure aims to prevent banned cheaters from easily creating new accounts to resume their unethical practices. Similar mechanisms are already in place in games like Valorant and Rainbow Six Siege, effectively curbing cheating incidents.

While some players acknowledged the potential efficacy of the Ricochet anti-cheat system if properly programmed, others expressed disappointment at the removal of the option to enable or disable cross-play. This decision sparked a heated debate as trust among players reached an all-time low, leading to accusations of a "skill issue" rather than addressing the root cause – cheaters.

The recent wave of 23,000 account bans initially seemed like a significant step towards combating cheating. However, when factoring in MW3's free access weekend in December, it becomes clear that more needs to be done to effectively tackle the widespread cheater problem.

With the challenges persisting, players are eagerly awaiting further news regarding an increase in cheaters being banned within the MW3 and Warzone games. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen whether new measures will be implemented to restore fair play and reinstate player confidence in the gaming experience.
